We all know what we have to do to lose weight - we need to know how to burn fat. Of course if it was that simple then the world would not be facing its current crisis with obesity. Therefore it is exercise and a balanced diet that  are the key factors in how to burn fat and weight reduction. If you are eating more calories than you are burning off throughout the day the result will be that the calories will be stored as fat. It really is that simple. Your next step is to develop strategies to burn as many calories as possible even if your average day involves being stuck in an office for eight hours.

For instance if possible you should think about using your hour lunch break as a chance to get half hours exercise in.  You see, one thing about exercise is that it raises your metabolic rate for a sustained period of time, not only while you’re huffing and puffing on the treadmill. Your metabolism takes a while to return to its normal pace. Pectin in apple restricts the cells to absorb the fat; and also encourages water absorption from the food which helps in releasing the fat deposits from the body.

So we have discussed so far how taking some simple steps can help you to burn calories on a day to day basis. We now have to consider how to burn fat over a longer period. The best way is to imagine the metabolism as like an engine. The longer we keep it going the more energy we get it to use up. Of course this is easier said than done if you have a sedentary workplace or lifestyle. Current recommendations suggest at least 30-60 minutes of moderate activity per day can help you to control your weight and bring other health benefits. Just using stairs, walking or cycling are everyday activities that can positively contribute to your overall weight control and health.

There are other things you can do. Walk rather than taking the bus or car to work. If that is not practical then consider cycling. Also don’t be afraid about being creative in your activities. For instance, put some weights on you in the form of some hand held or ankle weights. While there is some controversy over using weights while walking this is mainly for people who over do it so  obviously we are not talking about  fifteen or twenty pound weights here. Rather you are looking to add merely a pound or two only. These small weights may not seem like much, but what they do is add resistance and adding resistance will increase the caloric burn. Adding weights is not something to do in the beginning of a calorie burning program, but something to add to it after you’ve gotten used to your usual routine.

These are just a few changes you can make to your daily routine when you are considering how to burn fat. However, serious fat loss will only occur when you are disciplined enough to change the foods you eat and the exercise you do over a prolonged period of time.

There must be tens of thousands of ways people suggest to burn fat. Just go out on the Internet and search on burning fat and you will see everyone’s opinion on how to do it. Anyone can burn fat but how to do it safely is the key. First of all, before you start an exercise program, you need to make sure that it is okay for you. Walking programs are fairly safe for anyone to get started with. In fact, most doctors recommend walking for cardiac patients quite frequently. So walking is a great way to get started right away. Walking uses up oxygen and when you do that, the body turns to other energy sources to feed itself and this would be the stored carbohydrates in your system in the form of fat. One source says that walking a mile will burn 100 calories and that 3,500 calories equals one pound. But you cannot walk 35 miles a day. So you have to combine your scheduled walk with many unscheduled walks such as walking to the grocery store, walking to work, walking upstairs instead of taking the elevator, and looking for every possible opportunity you can to walk.

So walking is good to get started but you will want to safely increase the intensity of your exercise in order to burn fat faster. This increase needs to be gradual especially if you are seriously overweight and have not exercised in quite some time. To increase the intensity of your walking, try climbing stairs. In fact, look for every place where there are stairs and use them. Stadiums are a good place to find stairs. If you have access to a stadium you can spend your time running up and down those. Cardiac doctors recommend that patients start stair climbing very gradually. If you are a cardiac patient then consult your doctor.

And as you get into better shape, you can intensify your exercise program by maybe running or doing wind sprints. No matter what, the key to burning fat quickly and keeping it off is through activity and resistance activity is the best. Resistance activity is where you push against some force. For example, walking up and down stairs is a resistance activity because you are resisting the downward pull of gravity. This is how you burn fat fast. Activity burns those extra calories. There is really no other safe way around it.

When someone thinks of losing weight, two things they think are goodbye to eating at restaurants and having alcohol. Well that doesn’t have to be the case. It is a matter of learning how those two things won’t hurt your weight loss. Just because it isn’t made at home doesn’t mean it is filled with preservatives that will turn directly to fat when you eat there. And having alcohol, either at a restaurant or a party, doesn’t have to be a weight gainer either.

Having alcohol follows under similar rules. Alcohol may be higher in fat gaining content than many other things. However not all alcohols have the same weight gaining elements. Certain ones are more likely to cause weight gain and the secret is learning which these are and either staying away from them completely, or only having them occasionally. It might even be a good idea to have the bad alcohols with fat burning foods to ward off any weight gaining the “bad” alcohol has. This way you are not depriving yourself of any pleasures you have. And the best part is you can still have that alcoholic drink to distress after work without worry.
